Here’s a great shot of my BugWall top out from Tom Evans:
Finished climbing the BugWall Friday and enjoyed a wonderful night of camping on top of El Capitan before making the day long slog down the East Ledges descent. Thanks to the many blisters on my feet and some awesome volunteer help with gear on the way down, I got back down to the valley floor last night.
Unfortunately I was greeted with an impounded car. The park service decided to pave the road it was parked on during the 2 weeks I was on the wall. Hopefully the park superintendent is understanding and they will refund the $120 impound fee with which they held my car hostage.
Once my car was recovered, I very thoroughly enjoyed my first shower in two weeks! After eating a quick hot meal, I hiked back to the base of El Capitan and recovered a fixed rope and some extra gear.
Today I am hardly walk. I am covered in blisters and bruises – but I feel great. Already planning my next edible insect recipes, gastronomic adventures and my next big wall.
Thank you all for your support of this project. I will soon write up a detailed trip report with photos and more details.
Don’t forget the BugWall Indiegogo Campaign is still running for a few more days, Check out some awesome edible insect perks:
