The road to proper climbing nutrition is paved with loads of misinformation and bad habits. Thanks the solid expertise of Brian, master of climbingnutrition.com, I am on the path to better eating habits for the BugWall. To better understand edible insect nutrition for the BugWall, I have sat down and compiled a comprehensive breakdown of one day’s mega calorie burning big wall nutrition:
Physically ingesting and packing enough food to replace the 4000+ calories I’ll likely be burning per day will not be possible, even with edible insect nutrition on my side – but this is very close. Far closer than the 1500 – 2000 calories per day I’ve averaged on other walls. This diet hits the magic 300+ carb range that will hopefully keep my body from breaking down muscle. 11 days of constant climbing necessitate paying close attention to hydration, nutrition, and health to keep moving forward.
